My name is Jane by Yipang

My name is Jane

This work is a poignant reminder of one’s cultural identity in today‘s political climate. By using Ink, brush and paper to signify Chineseness, Yipang writes the names of all the artists in this show in ‘reverse English’. In subverting the English language and standing it on its head, she wants her audience to examine how our personal identity is shaped by western culture, and to what extent it contributes to the current social tension in Hong Kong.
