Stop 4 (part 1 of 2) - Shooting gallery

Here is a shooting gallery also known as a caponier. It was used to defend the Citadelle in the event of an assault. Thanks to this type of structure, the soldiers occupying the Citadelle could fire at invaders while being sheltered. Fortunately, the Citadelle was never attacked and the shooting gallery, where you now stand, was never used.
