Stop 3 (part 1 of 2) - Former military hospital

The building on your left, Casa Berardi, is the former hospital at the Citadelle built in 1848. This hospital could accommodate up to 75 patients. It even had a surgery and ophthalmology room. Thus, the British soldiers did not have to leave the fortress for their medical care. In 1920, the hospital was converted into the headquarters of the Royal 22e Régiment.
