Family lamp

In this artwork we see a parent figure with two kids. Even if it is shedding light, we feel some darkness behind. The lamp is in fact part of a series, even Brad Pitt owns one, that the artist imaged for a dystopian city of slaves.  Are we seeing them in the moment they are still running away from this tragic destiny, with the light being the energy that keeps them going or when they finally managed to escape? What is your interpretation of this piece?
