The dining room on the right also has some redesign options as well. You could expand the opening from the foyer by removing a portion of the wall to mirror the handrail and balusters visible on the left side. Additional wall removal is an option in this room but only if a kitchen remodel becomes part of your long term plan. Of course, leaving both these rooms just the way they are is a perfectly acceptable option as well.
