The truth is, even though I am critical of my own work, I am very proud of this series of paintings. I love them as a body of work, I love how they were made and who they were made for.
As part of this exhibit, the Cherry Street Pier would like to try a portrait exchange on a larger scale. On Sunday, September 15th, from 2 to 4 pm, we’ll be holding a portrait party at the Pier.
Just show up with your favorite sketch pad that has paper you can tear out of the pad. And bring a large sharpie marker. For eight 15-minute rounds, you will be paired with another artist and each of you will sketch each other and give each other the portrait you make.
At the end of the afternoon, you will have had the chance to sketch eight different people, you will have gifted each of them with their portrait, and you will collect eight different portraits of yourself from other people. We’ll play music, we’ll serve drinks, and generally, just enjoy each other.
No registration is necessary, just bring yourself — amateur, professional — wherever you are.
